On August 8, 2023, the European Commission published the Amendment Bill (EU) 2023/1608 to the EU POPs Regulation ((EU) 2019/1021) in its official gazette, which formally included perfluorohexane sulfonic acid (PFHxS), its salts and related substances in Annex I of the EU POPs Regulation for control. The amendment will take effect on the 20th day after the publication of the official gazette. So far, the list of prohibited substances in Annex I of EU POPs regulations has increased to 29.
In this revision, the items and restrictions added in Annex I of POPs regulations are as follows:
